Essex Caledonian Pipe Band
Based in Chelmsford, Essex and formed in 1996, Essex Caledonian is a Grade 4B competition pipe band.
The band competes at the Pipes in the Park competition held in Colchester each June, as well as annual visits to Belgium, local contests and even several ‘Majors’ over the years. As a competition band we are always striving to improve the band’s sound, delivering interesting and challenging musical performances that push the abilities of our players onwards.
As well as competitions we also take part in many events in our local community, including carnivals, Remembrance Sunday parades, Christmas markets and corporate events. The band has performed on stage at the Royal Albert Hall, taken part in international festivals across Europe, and had several visits to the Menin Gate in Ypres to perform for their daily service of remembrance.
We also have a strong focus on teaching, and we’re always happy to welcome new members of all ages to the band, from complete beginners through to experienced players.
